How to be prepared for earthquake ?

-Moin Uddin

Every day earthquake goes but we don’t feel it, somewhere in someplace there is the shake going due to earthquake. Two weeks ago at Friday morning at 4:25 am the earthquake came for few seconds, I woke up suddenly and started praying to god as I didn't have any option than to pray him. The dogs barked and some birds chirped but others didn't felt it as they were sleeping and because the rector was small.

We are in the prone area for earthquake as some geologist predicted it and it’s a threat to every human being. We can’t predict it that when will it come, so only being ready to cope with that devastating threat is only the solution.

My Kathmandu is highly prone and it’s very difficult to get rescued from it due to unplanned urbanization, the congested building with the electricity poles attached with the house; the electric wires left cluttered. So this adds more risk if earthquakes comes.

The solution to it is the awareness program to be conducted nationwide and also to plan and to implement the building code and the spaces needed for the emergency vehicle to reach every nook and corners of the places and also by arranging all the first aid equipment for urgent needs.
I would implement the learned precaution that I've studied in school. Searching for a safe place to hide, under table if not then at the side of the pillar of the door by holding  a strong plate like thing to protect it from getting hurt on head.

The most important things is to be aware and then by orderly placing all those necessary equipment and then organizing all those unplanned places, renovating the old building structures and dismantling risky buildings and erecting a new ones for those vulnerable buildings.

The foremost thing to be prepared well to battle it is by being mentally and then physically strong by all the means needed when it occurs, being calm and then praying to god is the last solution.
