An Event with Cain Harrelson

"You see success in every single day by being a teacher, than any other profession" said Cultural Affairs Officer at United States Embassy in Kathmandu Cain Harrelson. He was a former Teach for America Corps Member. He said that by being a teacher you become a leader.

The interaction program was organized by Teach for Nepal (TFN), where Harrelson shared his experiences and answered the questions asked by the participants in the hall of Brihaspati Vidyasadan, Naxal.

Harrelson said to be a teacher; one need to be creative, quick decision maker, problem solver and s/he should be resourceful.

C.E.O of TFN, Shishir Khanal gave a presentation on the current scenario of education of Nepal. In his presentation he mentioned that only 35 percent of total students in public school pass the School Leaving Certificate (SLC), where 85 percent of the total students in private school pass the SLC.

Maths, Science and English are the subjects that most of the students appearing in SLC get failed.

Khanal said, out of total students only 15 percent of students go to private School and rest to the public school.

TFN is accepting the application from the interested Graduates who believe in change.

They want to enroll the change makers who are interested in Social Sense, also the applicants should be academically sound and should possess leadership potential.

Those who get selected should work for two years in the field of education. At the end they'll get paid and also they might get lots of opportunities as well after completion.
